গত ১২ মে ২০১৬ তারিখে রাষ্ট্রপতির সম্মতি লাভ করা Civil Courts (Amendment) Act,2016 সিনিয়র এসিস্ট্যান্ট জজ ও এসিস্ট্যান্ট জজের আর্থিক জুরিসডিকশন বৃদ্ধি করলো।
Civil Courts (Amendment) Act, 2016 (২০১৬ ইং সালের ১৩ নং আইন) এর ২ ধারা মতে একজন সিনিয়র এসিস্ট্যান্ট জজ এখন পূর্বেকার চার (৪) লাখ টাকার বদলে পঁচিশ (২৫) লাখ টাকা এবং একজন এসিস্ট্যান্ট জজ পূর্বেকার দুই (২) লাখ টাকার বদলে পনের (১৫) লাখ টাকা মূল্যমানের মামলার বিচার করতে পারবেন।
উপরোক্ত আইনের ২ ধারার সংশোধনের ফলে The Civil Courts Act, 1887 (ACT NO. XII OF 1887) এর Section 19 এখন নিন্মরুপঃ
19. Save as otherwise provided by any enactment for the time being in force, the jurisdiction of a Senior Assistant Judge and an Assistant Judge shall extend to all suits of which the value does not exceed [twenty five]* lac Taka and [fifteen]** lac Taka respectively.
* The words “four” were substituted, for the word “twenty five” by section 2 of the Civil Courts (Amendment) Act, 2016 (Act No. 13 of 2016).
** The words “two” were substituted, for the word “fifteen” by section 2 of the Civil Courts (Amendment) Act, 2016 (Act No. 13 of 2016).
