The Government of Bangladesh published the Final Draft of the Forestry Policy 2016 for comments from the concerned people. The process of adopting the new policy is not sufficiently publicized, some may say deliberately, by not including the draft or any notice regarding this new policy in the websites of the Ministry of Environment and Forest, or in the two different websites of Department of Forest. Under these circumstances, we have examined the Bangladesh forest policy framework focusing on three broad aspects: the manner of adopting the policy; the manner of its notification after adoption; and the content of the policy. Prepared a paper to be presented at the BAPA-BEN ‘BAPA-BEN Special Conference on Sustainable Development & Environment (BAPA-BEN SCSDGE)’ 14-15 January 2017 at their invitation and presented the same on 14.01.2017.
